Our History

AFI's identity and culture have changed over the years since it opened our doors in 2015. The concept of AFI was a combination of need and vision. In 2015, AFI opened its doors providing alternative fuel conversions for customers and fleets. We had two stalls in the back of a body shop and one office. After a year, AFI hired its first sales representative and started to expand its offerings beyond Alternative Fuels. First Van Interior and Truck Equipment Upfits were done in 2016. In 2017, AFI had grown to 6 employees and moved into a 22,000 square foot facility. AFI's offerings continued to expand to include Service Bodies, Flatbeds, Lift Gates, and other larger items to meet customer demand. In addition, AFI had achieved Ford QVM status and secured ship-thru capabilities for Ford and GM vehicles.

In 2020, AFI was recognized as the 41st Fastest Growing Company in Kansas City. Growth continued and and a year later in 2021, AFI relocated to a 55,000 square foot facility and was recognized as Kansas City's 20th Fastest Growing Company. This growth is a true testament to the strong partnerships AFI continues to build with its clients. More importantly, are the people at AFI. AFI understands that our continued growth and success is dependent on our ability to keep building our culture and investing in our people.
